Housing Counseling The A-NPDC was certified by HUD as a Housing Counseling Agency in 2006. It has performed housing counseling services including foreclosure counseling as a HUD Certified Housing Counseling Agency for the last 3 years. However, the A-NPDC has been assisting Accomack and Northampton Counties to meet their affordable housing needs since the early 1980’s. Other types of Assistance Available The staff of the A-NPDC also serves two affiliate organizations that are housed in the same building and offer additional housing counseling, education and related services. The Accomack-Northampton Regional Housing Authority was formed in 1992 in accordance with the Code of Virginia to carry out housing activities and to meet housing needs that were not being met by the private sector or the non-profit housing network. The A-NRHA administers the Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher Program, the Homeless Intervention Program and owns and operates 72 units of affordable rental housing. The Eastern Shore of Virginia Housing Alliance, a 501(c) (3) also staffed by the A-NPDC, is a CHDO organization that operates the Indoor Plumbing/Rehab Program, Sponsoring Partnerships and Revitalizing Communities (SPARC), HOME Downpayment Assistance Program and Housing Opportunities for Persons with Aids (HOPWA) and administers the NeighborWorks homeownership education and financial literacy programs. The relationships and programs described above give the A-NPDC the ability to offer it's foreclosure counseling clients a one-stop shop for counseling, education and financial assistance. |
